CHRONICLES OF IRUBA

Card image cap
Book Description

The chief of the people is Iswa. Iswa survives the great wars and snares of the battleground, but he is yet to face the greatest battle of his life. Idolized by every young boy in the village, Iswa has now made himself a great ferocious and relentless enemy – the king of all the Iruba chiefdoms – Ngo. Ngo is the master of all mischief and a miscreant. His grip on the throne of Iruba is wearing out the patience of the people. Iruba is under siege by Ngo’s strange army – men likened to blood-thirsty ghosts – but nothing will stop the women of Iruba from having a good laugh at them. The women are daring. They won’t bow down to any man’s chest thumping, but they praise Iswa endlessly, much to Ngo’s annoyance.

Chronicles of Iruba is a mesmerising, stay-up-all-night and tell-all-your-friends-about-it story; an old-fashioned tale of intrigue, survival and bold machinations of destiny. The book leaves the lofts of your mind wondering how far is too far and how deep is the depth of the looming darkness in a man’s heart.

DANCING ON BROKEN LINES

Card image cap
Book Description

‘Dancing on Broken Lines’ is a poetry collection that melts into the love of life, trying to fill the gaps left by the struggles of mankind, endeavoring to join the disconnected pieces using the rhythm of Dance that is never perfect, in a life filled with imperfection. It explores the lonesome childhood of the author, the disillusionment of youth-hood, and the resignation of older life. The memories are drummed off the Mbuutu, the Congolese Kwasa Kwasa, and the American pop as teens dance to Jaba. The author resurrects from his earlier collection ‘Echoes of Tired Men’ to craft another lamentation,  but this is iced with the strength of being able to dance through the sorrows of life.

I'M ONLY SIZE 3

Card image cap
Book Description

Phlynne began writing poetry at the age of twelve. Over the years she has accumulated over 500 poems. She has been published in several anthologies in England and South Africa. Some poems were featured in a Christian Magazine. She was fortunate to have some of her poems reviewed by the poet, Mr Pieter Venter, as well as the late Professor Guy Butler, who both encouraged her to continue with her collection. She uses her poetry and songs  as a means of ministering to others. She has produced a CD with songs she composed and poems set in music. Phylnne has been involved in professional and amateur theatre productions, both in Durban and in Bloemfontein. Phlynne has had wonderful opportunities to be in two locally made films, "Zulu Dawn" and "An African Dreams." With her first book ‘I'm Only Size 3’, she hopes to encourage people who have suffered rejection,  especially from a young age, to know that they are never alone and that God is a miracle-working God. His promises are there to cling to. His timing is always on time.

MY JESUS STORY

Card image cap
Book Description

Humble,  dramatic tales of life, love and laughter are narrated here in Primah's Jesus story. While many would walk on eggshells around their idea of a treacherous punishment-giving, merit-awarding, distant God, Primah shows us His unconditional love,  grace, intimacy,  and desire  to be in a relationship with us,  despite  our not so-divine human nature. Primah shares her Jesus experience with such hilarious,  relatable stories! This book will take you along Primah's Jesus journey,  from moments of mindless yet earnest religion even as a child, to the place where she encountered His grace. The book demonstrates how God's grace sets us free to walk in love with God without fear. Primah took down the proverbial scoreboard that she tried to earn credits with by 'good behavior' and other conventional religious what-nots, and replaced it with Christ and  everything that came with what He did for us on the cross. If you find yourself struggling to be what you think God wants you to be, and it feels like a never-ending uphill climb then Primah's humorous Jesus story is just what you need.

HOW TV MADE OUR KIDS IDIOTS

Card image cap
Book Description

The effect that questionable content on TV can have on young children in Uganda varies from harmless to uncomfortable.  Kids watch TV at home and when unsupervised, can learn vices like bad language from it. In Uganda, inappropriate language alone has found its way into all manner of children's entertainment.  No TV channel can be trusted, not even our very own local channels. In this book, Godfrey describes some of the vices children learn from TV. He offers suggestions on how parents can guide their children out of the mind-numbing effects of unsupervised TV time, and into better character-building habits.

FOOTSTEPS OF THE KAKALABANDA

Card image cap
Book Description

‘Footsteps of the Kakalabanda’ is not a mere poetry collection, it's a concert of tales speaking of the mystical, fervent, heartbreaking, and sad moments that still swing on the rope of memory in the author's mind. The author hopes to blend storytelling and poetry to produce a unique cocktail of love,  betrayal, pain, politics and Africanism using the metaphor of the 'Kakalabanda' – a mystical creature that dominates high school tales, un-pun poetry (seriously-unserious), the painful prick of love, all donned with philosophy and iced prayers and wishes.

WHEN DREAMS DIE

Card image cap
Book Description

‘When Dreams Die’ is a poetic diagnosis of today's corporate life, exploring its illusions, giving corporate depression visibility as the silent dead dream's syndrome that eats our society alive. The trauma of loving, the disillusionment of love and how love refuses to be the alternative to home, how when in the dream of love, love draws scars and calls them stars. This collection inks lost dreams of a great country, but exhibits how poetry can save the world from drowning,  and how we can survive despite lost dreams in the rough road of reality.  ‘When Dreams Die’ affirms that poetry is not a lamentation of the impotent but a pivoting ground for a renaissance.

BIBLICAL SPIRITUAL LAWS

Card image cap
Book Description

‘Why doesn’t God stopall the evil happening in the world today even though He is willing and able to do so?’ If this is a question you have often pondered, you join millions of others around the world who seek answers about God and His ways. Perhaps you have wondered why you sometimes pray for someone hoping they will get better, only for them to die. Or you may have wondered why every time you take on a new project, you encounter lots of resistance. Have you wondered why it sometimes seems like a very long time before God answers your prayer, while prayer for others, God seems to answer their prayers immediately? Have you asked yourself why you seem to live way below the abundant life Jesus promised you in John 10:10, or why you seem to be worse off than your neighbour, yet you are a Christian and he/she is not?

In Biblical Spiritual Laws, Tomson offers insightful counsel and guidance into certain spiritual laws that govern God’s kingdom and all of His creation. In these pages, discover:

·         There is nothing new under the sun – all that you are going through was anticipated by God during creation and God put in place spiritual laws you can apply to overcome any challenge you are facing.

·         God’s spiritual laws affect all human beings regardless of their social status, religious beliefs or nationality: those who fail to discover or who incorrectly apply the laws, suffer consequences.

·         Spiritual laws are used both by God (to bring about good), and by satan, to cause evil.

·         How important it is to correctly apply spiritual laws in order to make your life what God meant it to be.

Filled with 12 practical, thought-provoking Biblical principles, Biblical Spiritual Laws will be a book people from all walks of life will refer to over and over again as they seek to be the people God intended them to be.
